About this item
- ‘Dawn Delight’ papaya: Poly-bag plants of about 20-30 cm height with 4-6 open leaves are normally supplied. An elite Tissue Culture propagated papaya line produced and supplied by Thomas Biotech, Bengaluru.
- Exclusively female plants unlike seed-propagated plants which could turn out to be male, female, or hermaphrodite. Relatively dwarf plants suitable for homestead, kitchen garden, and for terrace cultivation.
- Ideal for monocropping in open fields with full sunlight accommodating 800 plants per acre at 2x 2 m spacing.
- Commences flowering in about 4 months, usually at 40-60 cm from soil level. First harvest in 7-8 months giving the preferred medium-size fruits of 0.5-1.0 Kg, roundish in shape.
- No pollination needed for fruit-setting on account of the parthenocarpic fruit-setting potential. Gives seedless fruits with orange-red flesh and good sweetness (12-15 Brix TSS).
- Prolific bearer; In open field cultivation, yields about 60-100 fruits per tree in 12-15 months. Fruits display slow ripening with firm flesh and extended shelf life (6-12 days depending on the stage of harvest). Export quality fruits, ideal for table purposes and for processing.
- The performance may vary with local climatic conditions and the management practices, and hence no liability on performance accepted. Nearby pollinizer sources could impart seed-bearing fruits, which would grow bigger in size.
