‘Dawn Delight’ papaya: Poly-bag plants of about 20-30 cm height with 4-6 open leaves are normally supplied. An elite Tissue Culture propagated papaya line produced and supplied by Thomas Biotech, Bengaluru.
Exclusively female plants unlike seed-propagated plants which could turn out to be male, female, or hermaphrodite. Relatively dwarf plants suitable for homestead, kitchen garden, and for terrace cultivation.
Ideal for monocropping in open fields with full sunlight accommodating 800 plants per acre at 2x 2 m spacing.
Commences flowering in about 4 months, usually at 40-60 cm from soil level. First harvest in 7-8 months giving the preferred medium-size fruits of 0.5-1.0 Kg, roundish in shape.
No pollination needed for fruit-setting on account of the parthenocarpic fruit-setting potential. Gives seedless fruits with orange-red flesh and good sweetness (12-15 Brix TSS).
Prolific bearer; In open field cultivation, yields about 60-100 fruits per tree in 12-15 months. Fruits display slow ripening with firm flesh and extended shelf life (6-12 days depending on the stage of harvest). Export quality fruits, ideal for table purposes and for processing.
The performance may vary with local climatic conditions and the management practices, and hence no liability on performance accepted. Nearby pollinizer sources could impart seed-bearing fruits, which would grow bigger in size.
